Born in New York City in 1910, Dr. Sidney Cohenbecame a doctor of medicine at Bonn Universityin Germany and received his Ph.G. from-Colum-bia University in New York. He is Chief of Psycho-somatic Medicine at the Veterans AdministrationHospital in Los Angeles, Associate Clinical Pro-fessor of Medicine at the University of Californiaand editor of
Mind: Psychiatry in General Prac-tice.

, published in 1962, Dr. Co-hen's research activities have extended into allclasses of drugs which affect the mind. Over sev-enty articles reporting these findings have beenpublished in scientific journals. For ten years hehas investigated many problems of LSD and theother hallucinogens and has contributed some ofthe basic information in this field. His work hasbeen a source of material for many of thepopular reports on LSD. They cite his researcheson the therapeutic use, side effects andcomplications, and his descriptions of the varioushallucinogenic states from the psychotic to thetranscendental.
